Outside work and school, hobbies help me recharge and stay creative. I love cooking and experimenting with recipes from different cultures, especially Indian comfort food, simple weeknight meals, and new dishes I discover when I travel. Trying out restaurants and cuisines around Seattle has become a fun way to explore the city and learn about different communities. I also enjoy reading, especially books that mix storytelling with personal growth, leadership, or technology. Volunteering for causes I care about, like education and community support, gives me a sense of connection and reminds me why I want my career to create positive impact.

Traveling, even on a small scale, is another hobby that shapes how I see the world. I like planning trips with an analyst’s mindset: researching places, comparing options, and finding a good balance between must‑do sights and unstructured time to wander. Whether it’s exploring a new city, visiting local coffee shops, or walking through neighborhoods, I pay attention to how people live and what makes each place unique. These hobbies, cooking, reading, traveling, and volunteering, keep me grounded, curious, and open‑minded, and they influence how I approach both my MBA journey and my long‑term career goals.
Thanks for sharing this, Shreya! I enjoyed how your hobbies reflect both creativity and intentionality, especially the way you connect cooking and exploring cuisines to learning about different cultures and communities. Your “analyst’s mindset” approach to travel was a great insight. I like how you balance research with leaving space for discovery. It’s also inspiring to see how volunteering ties back to your desire to create positive impact through your career. Your post beautifully shows how personal interests can ground us and shape how we approach both school and long-term goals. This was a great read, and so fun getting to know a little bit about you!
Hi Shreya!
I also love cooking! I am curious as to what your favorite restaurant in Seattle is. I love the various Ramen places in Seattle. I also do enjoy the homemade ramen I made a couple months ago. I am still exploring restaurant options for sushi and bbq. I recently found a good Banh mi place!
I have so many questions! Do you have a favorite kitchen appliance or cooking method? I’ve been liking using a slow cooker lately on nights I am busy. And I do like using an instant pot and its air fryer attachment. I made coconut rice in the instant pot recently for the first time. So easy and so good!
Anyways, wishing you yummy endeavors!
